Quality Shared Living options

As you’re considering the best options for those individuals or families you may refer, we want to share some background on our quality, our Shared Living Program and our mission.

Mission drives quality care

At Bethesda, we believe the best life is possible for every person. As a national leader in providing homes and support, promoting awareness and advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we make a difference every day. That difference begins with helping people live the lives they want, and a commitment to honor our Christian faith.

When families choose to partner with Bethesda in our Shared Living program, they are choosing an organization that:

  • Believes all people are inherently valuable to God and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect
  • Personally empowers people to realize goals through discovery, development and use of their skills and talents
  • Supports self-directed decisions that positively impact local communities, and support living life to the fullest
  • Is anchored in a Christ-centered, Lutheran framework for guiding services and enriching relationships
  • Empowers stakeholders to contribute to the goals and priorities of the organization through open, honest communication
  • Is flexible and responsive to needs, faithful in keeping promises, and timely, fair and honest in all its dealings
  • Exercises Christian stewardship of its resources
  • Honors innovation, creativity, learning and continuous quality improvement
  • Encourages fun and fellowship

A broad range of services

Bethesda’s reputation for quality springs from our 110 years of experience in caring for people with developmental disabilities, and our deep Christian roots that nourish the people we hire, the programs we offer and the culture that characterizes our entire organization.

That quality is evident in our Shared Living program, where Host Homes and Family Caregivers are carefully matched with the people they support, as well as our many other programs, including:

  • Community-based group homes
  • Day programs
  • Supported living services
  • Professional and employment training
  • Respite care
  • Camping programs
  • Partnerships with local congregations
