You are powerful! We are powerful! Self-Determination is powerful!
Bethesda College students recently attended the annual Wisconsin Self Determination Conference, held at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. Produced by the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, the conference works to inspire people with disabilities to:
+ Have more control over their lives
+ To do their own thing rather than picking from a menu of services
+ To become more resourceful and expand their possibilities for an inclusive life in our communities
+ Have a voice to say “Yes I can,” and a voice to say “No.”
More than 600 people each year attend this event and learn about self-determination so they can live independently. Conference participants include people with disabilities, family members, direct care providers and professionals.
Bethesda College students participated in a variety of activities and had a great time getting involved and making new friends. Bethesda also had a booth at the event and highlighted our services and mission of helping others.
